
Dr Kavitha Kothur

Dr Kavitha Kothur holds specialist qualification in paediatric neurology. She completed her paediatric neurology training through fellowships in epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, neuroimmunology, and general neurology at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Additionally, she has experience working in a neurodisability and rehabilitation clinic and in child psychiatry.
Dr. Kothur provides comprehensive care for neonates and children with neurological issues, serving patients from birth up to 16 years of age. She is dedicated to delivering the best possible care for both her patients and their families.
Her clinical experience encompasses the diagnosis, investigation, and management of various conditions in children, including seizures, epilepsy, headaches, developmental and behavioural concerns, neuromuscular disorders, neurogenetics, tics, abnormal movements, psychosomatic disorders, and brain injuries. Moreover, Dr. Kothur advocates for children with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of support services.
She serves as an NHMRC senior clinical research fellow at the University of Sydney and is a staff specialist at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Her commitment to patient care is evident in her strong interest in clinical research and teaching. She is also part of the team of research clinicians investigating epilepsy and movement disorders in children at the Kids Neuroscience Centre.
Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and she has presented her findings at both national and international child neurology conferences.
